Well what an eventful week so far .. haven’t had a minute to myself and my kitchen creations have been somewhat limited! Seem to have taken on the role of carer this week .. taken my mum to the dentist, taken my daughter to the Orthopedic Consultant and the bonus this week was a 8am visit to The Royal Surrey Hospital with a lovely young Irish Physio called Peter who is now responsible for her rehabilitation. Was almost wishing it was me with the torn ligaments and then realised I had the mind of a cougar again!! Grrr!
Yesterday I spent ages on the telephone, acting as a PA to my family. Still trying to pursue a claim against Arriva bus company since last April, against a bus driver fondly referred to by his supervisor as ‘Petrol Head’, who forced my daughter off the road. Admiral have now asked if we are willing to take this matter to court, so that is more of our time wasted, however I feel strongly that the local bus drivers should not be allowed to get away with irresponsible, reckless driving. Also trying to sort out the insurance for the little ski accident on New Years day which although started off being straight forward, has now escalated and is going to be complex. Next I called The John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford to sort out continued Physio there for when she returns to Uni. Whilst they couldn’t guarantee a gorgeous Irish chap, they were so helpful and said a transfer of care could be easily sorted. Oh .. and then there was the problem of a faulty mobile phone to deal with and I have to say Orange were fantastic and remotely verified the fault and despatched a replacement phone immediately. I then wrote an email in praise of a super efficient, friendly girl who helped us twice this week in HSBC Guildford … what a star! She even made £70 of overdraft charges disappear from my daughters account!
Then on to the Domestic Goddess department of my life .. yesterday, whilst vacuuming the stairs, the 20 year old hoover took a tumble and then started to smell of burning;there was smoke coming out of the filter. A quick visit to Amazon and a shiny new Dyson with some swivel ball technology is being couriered to me this morning! A Domestic Goddess should never be without her power tools!!
Just had a call from a dear friend and they are coming over for a simple supper tonight .. now what shall I cook?? Probably my favorite Mary Berry Chicken with Taleggio, Pesto and Roasted Cherry Tomatoes on the Vine I think! Or have I made that for them before?
One final note … just been in the garden and noticed not only snow drops are blooming but also crocus and grape hyacinths … this is so early!
